Unfortunately the console versions of Ori and the Will of the Wisps have some serious performances issues for some (many) users, though not all.
With this in mind, I’m collecting this information here in case it’s useful for someone who’s searching for solves for the following issues. Issues seems to apply to varying degrees for the Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X.
Console shut down
Loading the game crashes the console after/during the Ori running loading screen. (I think this is caused by a save-sync issue). Try:
- Soft reset your console (press and hold the power button), then start a different game first, before loading WOTW.
- Soft reset your console (press and hold the power button), then manage WOTW and delete all the local game saves.
Frame rate slow down
Not sure there’s much you can do for Base and S consoles, but on X I’ve seen reports that setting your console to 1440 or 1080 reduces the issues here.
Main menu hang
The background image loads but there’s no UI to start the game. Quit the game from the Xbox home screen and try again. Failing that, press and hold the power button and try again.
I’ve seen various reports that moving the game files to an SSD solves this issue. Failing that you might have to wait for another patch.
Update: An issues list is now up on the official Ori site.
